Overview

The city of Ha Tien in Vietnam features a distinct tropical monsoon climate. Temperatures here remain high and relatively stable throughout the year, with average values fluctuating between 26.5°C and 29.1°C. This ensures warm weather in almost any month, making the city attractive for sun-seekers.

Ha Tien has two clearly defined seasons: dry and wet. The dry season usually lasts from December to March or April. During this period, rainfall is minimal (1-2 mm per month), and there are few rainy days, especially in January and February. The wet season arrives in May and continues until approximately October or November. During these months, precipitation increases significantly, reaching 7-10 mm, and the number of rainy days can go up to 29 per month, particularly from May to October.

Thus, travelers should expect consistently warm weather. If you prefer drier conditions for exploring the city and its surroundings, it's best to plan your trip between December and March. If you don't mind tropical downpours—which are usually intense but brief—the wet season can also offer its own charms, such as lush greenery.

The "coolest" months are December and January, with average temperatures of 26.5°C and 26.7°C, respectively. During these months, minimum nighttime temperatures drop to a comfortable 23.6°C - 23.7°C.

The "winter" months, from December to February, bring milder but still very warm weather, with average values around 26.5°C - 27.4°C. This makes Ha Tien an attractive destination even during seasons that are traditionally cold in other regions. Moderate daily temperature fluctuations are observed year-round: the difference between daytime highs and nighttime lows ranges from 3.3°C to 6.8°C, providing some relief from the daytime heat.

Precipitation

The city of Ha Tien, located in Vietnam, experiences a distinct division of the year into two main seasons based on precipitation: the dry season and the rainy season. This seasonal shift determines the weather patterns and trip planning for the region.

The dry season in Ha Tien typically lasts from December to April. The driest months are January and February, when average monthly rainfall is only 1 mm and the number of rainy days does not exceed 7–8. Packing Tips

When planning a trip to Ha Tien, prepare for warm weather regardless of the time of year. Average annual temperatures fluctuate within a comfortable range of 26°C to 29°C, with minimum nighttime temperatures rarely dropping below 23°C. The foundation of your wardrobe should be light, breathable clothing made from natural fabrics—cotton and linen are ideal choices. From January to March, rainfall is minimal, so high-SPF sunscreen, headwear (a hat or cap), and high-quality sunglasses are especially important during these months. A light long-sleeved shirt will be useful not only for sun protection but also for visiting temples.

The period from April to November is characterized by the rainy season, peaking between May and October. During this time, precipitation increases significantly, and there can be up to 27–29 rainy days in a month. Therefore, your suitcase should definitely include a light raincoat or waterproof windbreaker, as well as a compact folding umbrella. Opt for clothes that dry quickly and water-resistant or quick-drying footwear, such as sandals or specialized trekking shoes. Despite the rain, the sun can still be strong, so don't forget your sunscreen.

Regardless of the season, you will need comfortable walking shoes to explore Ha Tien and its picturesque surroundings. Insect repellent is another essential item, especially if you plan to walk in nature or during the evening. While layering is less relevant here due to the consistently high temperatures, a light sweater or pashmina might come in handy for air-conditioned rooms or the occasional cooler evening. Don't forget an adapter for local outlets and a portable charger for your electronics.
