Ural Airlines Baggage and Carry-on Rules

Across Russia and abroad – the flight geography of Ural Airlines is quite extensive. With this carrier, you can find tickets to Dubai or to Kaliningrad. The further the final destination of the route, the more items passengers take with them. To pack correctly and avoid extra charges directly at the airport, it is worth studying the requirements that the airline imposes on checked baggage and carry-on baggage.

Ural Airlines Carry-on Baggage Requirements

The weight of carry-on baggage allowed in the cabin depends on your chosen fare. Subsidized, Promo, Economy, Economy-boost, and Premium Economy – 1 piece up to 10 kg, Business and Business Light – 2 pieces with a total weight of up to 15 kg. However, the dimensions for carry-on baggage are uniform for all classes – 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm. They will be checked twice – during check-in and directly at the boarding gate, so don't rejoice too soon: an airline employee may at any moment decide that the dimensions or weight do not meet the standard, and then you will be asked to pay for the transportation of your carry-on baggage.

In the cabin, bags/suitcases are placed according to the color differentiation of the markings:

• carry-on baggage with a red tag goes only on the overhead bin;
• a green tag means paid carry-on baggage exceeding the permissible dimensions or weight, which will also be placed on the overhead bin;
• a yellow tag is issued for carry-on baggage without a rigid frame, smaller than standard in dimensions and weight, which can be placed under the seat in front. Everywhere except emergency exit rows – there, even items with a yellow tag go on the overhead bin.

Additionally, the following can be carried in addition to carry-on baggage:

• a backpack, the weight and dimensions of which are 80 cm in the sum of three dimensions, weighing 5 kg, or a ladies' handbag, or a briefcase;
• a bouquet of flowers (small-sized, which can be placed in carry-on baggage areas);
• outerwear;
• baby food for a child;
• a suit in a garment bag (a soft cover with one suit, must not contain additional internal contents, transportation of any other items in a garment bag is not allowed);
• child carrying devices (baby bassinet, restraint systems (devices) for children under two years old, baby stroller, and other devices) when traveling with a child, whose dimensions do not exceed 55 x 40 x 20 cm and allow them to be safely placed in the aircraft cabin on the overhead bin or under the seat in front;
• medications, special dietary needs in the quantity required during the flight;
• crutches, canes, walkers, rollators, folding wheelchairs, used by the passenger and having dimensions that allow them to be safely placed in the aircraft cabin on the overhead bin or under the seat in front;
• goods purchased in duty-free shops at the airport, packed in a sealed (tamper-evident) plastic bag.

Transportation of Liquids in Carry-on Baggage

Everything is standard here too: liquids, aerosols, and gels in containers no larger than 100 ml can be taken into the cabin. They must be placed in a single, transparent, securely sealable plastic bag with a volume of no more than 1 liter. Even if a bottle, for example, with shower gel is not completely full, but its volume is more than 100 ml, it cannot be brought on board.

Packaging requirements do not apply to medicines and baby food that may be needed during the flight.

Checked Baggage Transportation on Ural Airlines Flights

What is the maximum permissible baggage weight? It all depends on your chosen fare. The general rule for all options concerns dimensions – no more than 203 cm in the sum of three dimensions and no more than 100 cm on any one side.

Combining Baggage

If you are flying with family, a colleague, or a friend, and the baggage allowance is already included in the fare (or you paid for it according to the fare), your baggage can be combined. In this case, the total weight of the shared suitcase will be 30 kg, not 23 kg. This rule applies even to Premium Economy, Business Light, and Business fares, although for these, the allowance is increased even for a single passenger. This maneuver is performed at the request of passengers when checking in together at the registration desk.

Transportation of Sports Equipment

Only in one fare, Promo, is sports equipment not included in the free baggage allowance. In this fare, sports equipment is paid for according to excess baggage rates. All other fares allow you to take sports equipment with you on your trip.

Checked Baggage and Carry-on for Passengers with Children

On all fares, children from 0 to 2 years old receive their own baggage and carry-on allowance: 10 kg in the cabin and 1 piece up to 10 kg for checked baggage (except for the Promo fare – for which checked baggage is paid according to excess baggage rates).

Child carrying devices (baby bassinet, restraint systems (devices) for children under two years old, car seats, etc.), whose dimensions do not exceed 55 x 40 x 20 cm, can be taken free of charge on all fares. The same dimensions apply to strollers for carry-on transportation.

Ural Airlines allows combining the baggage of an adult and an infant on Economy and Economy-boost fares: 23 kg + 10 kg from the allowance will combine into 30 kg of total baggage. Such is aviation math.

Cost of Additional Baggage with Ural Airlines

Is 32 kg of baggage not enough for you? Take extra! It can (and should) be booked and paid for in advance. If you don't do this beforehand, you will have to wait until check-in closes for airline employees to determine if they can accept the additional weight, or if your baggage transportation will be denied.

Items whose dimensions exceed 203 cm in the sum of three dimensions, and weight – 50 kg, are accepted for transportation as cargo.
