Russian-Japanese Phrasebook for Tourists
YasyaHow to say hello in Japanese, thank someone, and ask for directions. These and other expressions for daily communication are compiled in this Russian-Japanese phrasebook with transcription. All you have to do is buy tickets to Japan, pack your suitcase, and survive the flight to the East.
The tourism sector in Japan actively uses English. If you know it, you'll have few communication problems. But everyone always appreciates it when tourists try to learn at least a few words in the local language. This fosters respectful communication, so don't be lazy to memorize a few phrases.
It's best to start with “domo”. It translates as “very”, but it is used as “hello” and “thank you”. In general, whenever you want to emphasize your politeness, you can say “domo”.

Date and Time
Dates in Japan are written in the format “year, month, day”. So there should be no confusion.

Did you notice how numbers are formed after ten? The principle is similar: we take “ten”, which is “jū”, and add the desired digit after it:

Train Station and Airport
Although there is no direct air travel between Russia and Japan for 2025, it is still quite realistic to find tickets Moscow – Tokyo. Russians need a visa to travel to Japan.
