The garden is not only a popular place for walks but also an important research center within the structure of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Its main tasks are the conservation, study, and popularization of the rich plant world. It houses unique collections including about 12,000 species, varieties, and forms of plants from all over the world, which help preserve rare and endangered species for future generations.
Visitors can expect an exciting journey through various botanical and geographical regions, such as "The Carpathians," "The Caucasus," "Central Asia," and "The Far East." A special pride of the garden is the famous lilac garden (syringarium), which turns into a fragrant purple cloud in spring, as well as rich collections of magnolias, roses, and peonies. The large greenhouse complex deserves special attention, where one can admire exotic tropical and subtropical plants, including orchids, azaleas, and camellias, all year round.
