The Temple of Juno, also known as the Temple of Hera Lacinia, is a majestic ancient Greek temple located in the famous Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Italy. The temple is designed in a strict and elegant Doric style and stands on a massive four-stepped foundation, which was skillfully engineered to level out the uneven hilly terrain. Its original construction was monumental: 34 massive columns were arranged around the perimeter, forming a rectangle six columns wide and thirteen long.
To this day, 25 of the original columns remain, with 15 of them still topped with architraves, allowing visitors to fully experience the scale and grandeur of this ancient sanctuary. Thanks to its location atop a hill, the Temple of Juno not only leaves a lasting impression but also serves as an excellent vantage point offering breathtaking views of the Valley of the Temples and the surrounding landscape.
