How to get to Egypt
If you really want or absolutely need to get to Egypt, and no current government bans on flights by Russian airlines bother you, then it is still possible to reach the land of pharaohs and pyramids.
How to get to Egypt by ferry
Every day, except Saturday, a cargo ferry with passenger seats and a high-speed passenger boat run from the Jordanian port of Aqaba to the Egyptian port of Nuweiba. The ferry is cheaper - $65 one way, but it also takes longer - five and a half hours. A trip by boat will take three hours and cost $80. Both services are operated by the Jordanian company Arab Bridge. The vessels of this ferry company have another significant drawback - a lack of punctuality. This should always be kept in mind when planning your further route. The high-speed boat from Jordan to Egypt is scheduled to depart at 13:00, and back at 16:00. The cargo ferry departs at 15:00 there and at 22:00 back. In fact, discrepancies between the schedule and the actual departure of the ferry from the port can range from one to four hours.
By the way, Nuweiba port is located 65 km from Dahab and 140 km from Sharm El Sheikh.
You can get to Jordan from Russia by a direct Royal Jordanian flight in four and a half hours.
How to get to Egypt on foot
If you have a special passion for walking, you can cross the border between Israel and Egypt on foot. This is also a more economically advantageous method.
The border crossing operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except for a few days a year during major Jewish and Muslim holidays.
So, to use this method, you need to get to the southernmost point of Israel - the city of Eilat. The distance between Eilat and the Egyptian checkpoint (Taba city) is 20 km, which can be covered by city bus No. 15 for less than one and a half dollars. However, here you should take into account the bus schedule so that your walk does not increase by 15 km and turn into a full-fledged hike. Bus No. 15 does not operate during Shabbat (from mid-Friday to Saturday evening); at other times, it runs from 8:00 to 21:00 - one service every hour.
After crossing the border, you enter the Sinai Peninsula, which, by the way, is the safest and most protected resort area of the Red Sea. You can even stay here - Taba offers a wide selection of hotels, mostly five-star, and you can travel to Eilat for entertainment and souvenirs.
If your destination is Sharm El Sheikh or Dahab, there is a bus station 800 km from the checkpoint – from there, a bus departs daily at 15:00 for Sharm El Sheikh, making stops in Dahab and Nuweiba. From Sharm El Sheikh back to Taba, the bus departs at 8:00.
Of course, you can also not wait for the bus and take a taxi - a car to Sharm El Sheikh will cost you about $56, and to Dahab - $31.
