How is Pinterest useful for travelers?
Many people use Pinterest to collect and find beautiful images. One of the most popular categories is travel. And quite recently, the creators of the service decided to meet their users halfway and slightly expanded the functionality.
Now you can not only collect images and photos in albums, but also mark the location of objects on a map. This way, you can create an entire travel plan or simply mark a favorite place on the map.
Let's create a small itinerary for Paris together.
In the menu, select the "Place Boards" section:
In this section, you can view other people's boards as well as create your own.
To create your own, click "Create Board":
And fill out the card with your board's description. Once you're done, click "Create Board".
Now let's proceed to creating the map, click "Add Place".
Then, in the search bar, specify where you are going. For example, in our case, it's Paris.
Photos of Paris from other users will immediately appear; you can add them to your board or upload your own.
You can search not only by city name, but also by a specific place, attraction name, etc. In short, by any object marked in Foursquare.
Pay attention to one important nuance: if you specify a city in the search bar and want to add an image you like to the map, it will appear on the map not where the object is actually located, but in the city center.
For example, we liked an image of the Louvre, we clicked "Pin it" and it automatically appeared on the map, in the very heart of Paris, 2 kilometers from its actual location.
If the object's location is important to you, then specify the exact name when searching, for example, "Musée du Louvre". Then all pins, regardless of whether they are yours or someone else's, will appear on the map exactly there (or almost there, +/- a few tens of meters) where they are located.
As a result, we got this map:
