Entry Rules for Kyrgyzstan for Russians in 2025
Kyrgyzstan is a wonderful destination for a spontaneous vacation: no visa is needed, you can enter without a foreign passport, there are ski resorts, relict forests, lakes, and springs. It will appeal to digital nomads (by the way, there are special conditions for them here), and ordinary tourists who dream of seeing Issyk-Kul and trying local kumis. We tell you what entry rules for Kyrgyzstan are currently relevant, how to get there, and what to see.

Documents for entry into Kyrgyzstan
Unlike countries that are part of the Schengen Agreement, to enter Kyrgyzstan, you won't have to book slots at visa centers, collect employment certificates, or provide bank statements. This is because a visa-free regime operates between the two countries.
Is a foreign passport needed for Kyrgyzstan? No. Kyrgyzstan is one of the easiest countries to enter: Russians can enter its territory with either a foreign passport or a regular internal passport. You can stay in the country for 30 days; if you want to stay longer, you will need to register.
It's better to enter Kyrgyzstan with a foreign passport, where you will receive a stamp: otherwise, if you decide to continue your journey and fly somewhere else, you won't be able to cross the border. If you plan a quick vacation and return, a Russian internal passport will suffice.
If you have spent more than six months in the country, you can apply for a residence permit. It can be granted in the following cases:
— if you work in Kyrgyzstan and have a contract with a Kyrgyz company;
— if you are a citizen of the Russian Federation and intend to study at a local educational institution (a petition from the institution and from the authorized state body in the field of education and science is required);
— if you invest in Kyrgyzstan.
A residence permit is more likely to be granted if you have relatives from the Kyrgyz Republic. In that case, you will need to confirm your relationship with relevant documents.
IT specialists (and others), attention: you can obtain the status of «digital nomad» in Kyrgyzstan. This will allow you to work within the country without registration and a work permit.
What privileges does a «digital nomad» receive:
— the ability to conduct entrepreneurial activities as a legal entity in accordance with the laws of Kyrgyzstan;
— the ability to open and use accounts in Kyrgyz banks without registration.
The condition is that you must be a specialist in one of the required fields in IT and digital. For information on who can apply for the status, read on the website of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Other advantages:
— the application is processed in just 3 days;
— there is no fee for the status; moreover, you save on obtaining a work permit;
— entry into Kyrgyzstan for Russians who are relatives of «digital nomads» is significantly simplified.

There are equipped beaches, wellness complexes, modern hotels, and mini-apartments. The best time to swim is from July to August when the water is warm. The lake's peculiarity is that it never freezes. Locals say that in Chinese treatises, the lake was called the «warm sea.» Getting there from Bishkek takes a long time — a full 5 hours, but the trip is worth it.

Altyn-Arashan Gorge
The high-mountain gorge is located near the city of Karakol and looks like Middle-earth in real life: wild forests, hot springs, waterfalls — a tourist won't be able to leave here without an extra hundred photos.

Ala-Archa Park
The largest park in Kyrgyzstan, located just 40 km from Bishkek, making it easy to reach. In addition to walking paths offering incredible views of the Tian Shan mountains, there are specially equipped picnic areas, observation decks, and trekking routes. There are a couple of hotels and summer cottages.

Krasnorechenskoye settlement
The ruins of the ancient city of Navekat, which can be seen 30 km from Bishkek in the Chuy Valley. It was through Navekat that the northern road of the Great Silk Road passed. Thanks to archaeologists, fragments of Buddhist painting, Christian crosses, burials, jewelry, and coins have been found here at various times.
Konorchek Canyons
You don't need to go to the States to take a great photo next to the Colorado River against sandstone and limestone: in the middle of the Tian Shan mountains are the Konorchek Canyons, which formed along the bed of a dried-up river due to soil erosion. To reach the canyons, you will have to walk 2-5 kilometers, navigating among the rocks.
