Dombay Ski Resort: how to get there, slopes, and prices
So, you sat down to sort through options, where to go skiing. We have already talked in detail about the ski resorts of Arkhyz and "Rosa Khutor". Be sure to read it if you plan to make a dash through all the cool ski resorts in Russia.
Today we will share information about Dombay, a ski resort in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. Let's go!

How to get there and when to go
Perhaps the answer will be obvious: it's best to come here in winter. By the way, about getting here: the easiest way is to fly to Mineralnye Vody. From there, you can take a bus or order a transfer from Mineralnye Vody to Dombay.
Generally, the season here starts in mid-December and ends in late April. Experienced riders say that the best solution is to come here in February-March. But, of course, nothing prevents you from celebrating New Year here or meeting the beginning of winter with friends. The temperature in Dombay in December drops to –1 degree, in January to –2 degrees, and in February the thermometer usually stays steadily at zero.

Where to ski in Dombay
To go skiing, you will need to head to the southwestern slope of Mount Moussa-Achitara. The best altitudes are from 1,630 to 3,200 meters: this is where a sufficient amount of quality snow falls.
There are slopes for beginners, intermediate, and pros – their total length is 25 km. They are divided by color: green for beginners, blue for experienced, red for professionals.
For beginners, there is a ski school that offers group lessons and individual training. In addition, Dombay also respects freeriders: extreme sports enthusiasts can ride off-piste routes on the northern slope of the mountain.

Lifts and ski passes
There are several lifts in Dombay. The 'youngest' cable car has been operating since 2000. You can buy ski passes at the resort, but it's not possible to buy a single ski pass for individual cable cars. Prices for one cable car start from 1,500 rubles. By the way, a ride on the lifts of the old complex will be cheaper.
New Doppel Mayer Cable Car (altitudes 1,590–2,270–3,035–3,200 m)
– gondola lift;
– chairlifts: 6-seater and 4-seater.
Old Cable Car (altitudes 1,636–2,980 m)
– pendulum lift: cabin for 40 people;
– chairlift: 1-seater and 2-seater.
