What annoys passengers most during a flight?
What can turn a flight into a real torture? We conducted a survey, and here's what we found out.
The most hated neighbors turned out to be those who sit behind and constantly kick the back of the seat — 67% of respondents said so. In second place were inattentive parents who cannot calm their crying child. Then — those who recline their seat before you even finish eating. Many passengers are annoyed by unpleasant odors coming from neighbors and loud music from their headphones. Naturally, no one likes tipsy fellow travelers and those who bring a lot of carry-on luggage on board. Also, respondents often complained about impudent neighbors constantly hogging the armrests — fortunately, this problem may soon be resolved. According to statistics, 32% of men do not recline their seats during a flight, women are more considerate — 38%. Moreover, a third of all surveyed passengers recline their seat while sleeping, and a quarter — when the flight lasts more than three hours. 12% get comfortable immediately after takeoff or after the person in front does so. And only 23% of American air passengers ask permission from the person sitting behind them before reclining their seat. 16% of passengers use the flight as an opportunity to chat or get acquainted with fellow travelers, while another 65% are afraid of being on a plane next to them. Recently, many passengers record annoying neighbors on video and then upload the clip online — 12%, 6% write about it on Twitter. And only 22% of passengers are brave enough to express their dissatisfaction directly to the offender.
