Medical document requirements for Turkish Airlines
Main conditions:
forced refund due to illness is only available for tickets where the first flight departs from Russia.
for trips originating in another country, fare rules apply.
if part of the itinerary has already been used, it will not be possible to refund the ticket due to illness.
What documents are needed
A medical certificate with a diagnosis must be attached to the request.
The certificate must include:
signature of the attending physician;
signature of the chief physician;
3 seals: physician's seal, organization's seal, and organization's stamp, if the certificate is not on an official medical institution form.
It is very important that the certificate states that the passenger is contraindicated for air travel, and that the flight date falls within the period of this restriction.
The wording “flights are not recommended” will not be sufficient — in such a case, the airline may refuse.
What else is important to consider for illness refunds
Turkish Airlines usually does not approve forced refunds in the following cases:
for dental treatment, even if the certificate indicates contraindications to flights;
due to illness of relatives who are not flying on the same flight.
The airline considers each situation individually, so the final decision always rests with the carrier.
What happens next
After receiving the documents, we will send a request to the airline and await a response.
As soon as we receive a decision, we will inform you immediately. If the refund is approved, we will help process it and return the money for the ticket.
How to submit a request
To create a request for a forced refund due to illness, open the order in your personal account → click “Refund ticket” in the app or “Process refund” on the website → select the desired flight and the reason “Forced refund”.
When creating a request, you can remove yourself from the flight — if you are absolutely sure you will not fly. Please note: once seats are canceled, they cannot be restored, and the ticket will become invalid.
If you already have medical documents, attach them to the request.
After submitting the application, you will receive an automatic email — please read it carefully. All responses and updates regarding the request will come to this same correspondence — nothing will be lost.
