What to Do

At Seabreeze, there is something for everyone, from adrenaline junkies to families with small children. A ride on the famous Jack Rabbit roller coaster is a must—it is a living park legend that has been delighting visitors since the 1920s. For those seeking extra thrills, the Lightning Bug and Rock-O-Planes are popular choices.

The park also features an excellent water park, making it an ideal destination for summer fun. Visitors can cool off on water slides or relax in the pools, combining classic amusement park fun with outdoor water activities.

For a more leisurely pace, take a stroll along the Midway. Here, you can test your luck at the arcade games or enjoy a ride on the magnificent classic carousel, whose history is deeply intertwined with the Long family and the traditions of the early 20th century. Seabreeze is a place where history literally comes to life at every turn.

Getting There

The park is located at 4600 Culver Rd in the suburb of Irondequoit. Reaching it from the city center is straightforward: a trip by car or taxi takes about 15–20 minutes, following the signs for Seabreeze Amusement Park.

Historically, this location was the terminus of the Rochester & Lake Ontario Railroad, but today, road transport is the primary way to get here. Nevertheless, you can also reach the park from downtown Rochester via public transport. City bus routes provide access to the waterfront; however, it is recommended to check the current schedules and route numbers before departing.

History & Facts

The park's history began on August 5, 1879, when it opened as the terminus of a steam railroad. In those days, people didn't visit for extreme rides, but rather to enjoy picnics in the shady groves on the shores of Lake Ontario. However, progress marched on, and by 1883, the park featured its first steam-powered carousel.

The real boom began in the early 1900s when the Long family took over. It was they who brought the classic carousel here, setting the course for the park's development for decades to come. During the "Roaring Twenties," Seabreeze captured the imagination with the world's largest saltwater pool and the unique Virginia Reel attraction.

In the 1940s, George Long purchased the park from the transport company and briefly renamed it "Dreamland." In the post-war years, it frequently hosted circus performances and band concerts, making it a cultural hub for the entire region. Today, these long-standing traditions are carefully preserved by the Norris family, the park's current owners.

Time Needed

To fully experience the atmosphere of Seabreeze and have enough time for both the main rides and the water park, it is recommended to dedicate a full day (approximately 6–8 hours) to your visit. This will allow you to relax, enjoy a snack on the Midway, and ride the most popular coasters multiple times without rushing.

If your goal is strictly the classic roller coasters or a quick stroll through the historic part of the park, a 3–4 hour visit should suffice. In any case, it is better to plan your visit for the first half of the day to avoid peak queues.
