Overview

The climate in Zhushan, located in Taiwan, is characterized as humid subtropical. The city enjoys warm weather for most of the year. Average annual temperatures range from a comfortable 16–17.5°C in the cooler months (December–February) to a warm 25–26°C at the height of summer (June–August). There are no extreme colds here, and the summer heat is tempered by rainfall.

Zhushan experiences two main seasons. Summer, lasting roughly from May to September, is warm and very humid. This period sees the bulk of the rainfall, peaking in July and August when it can rain almost daily. Winter, from December to February, is mild and significantly drier, with fewer rainy days and less precipitation. The transitional seasons—spring (March–April) and autumn (October–November)—feature pleasant weather with moderate temperatures and a gradual change in humidity levels.

Zhushan enjoys a warm climate year-round, with noticeable seasonal temperature fluctuations. The hottest month is usually July, when the average temperature reaches 26.0°C and daily highs can rise to 29.1°C. Conversely, January is considered the coolest month, with an average temperature of 16.3°C and night-time lows around 12.6°C. Thus, the annual temperature cycle offers comfortable conditions suitable for visiting at any time of year, albeit with distinct warm and cooler seasons.

The summer months in Zhushan, spanning from May to September, are characterized as hot and humid. Average temperatures during this period range from 24.4°C in May to a peak of 26.0°C in July. Precipitation

Zhushan experiences distinct seasonality in precipitation throughout the year. The city has a clearly defined wet season followed by a drier period, which is important to consider when planning your trip. Overall, precipitation here comes in the form of rain, as average monthly temperatures remain above freezing year-round.

The wet season in Zhushan typically spans from May to September, reaching its peak in the summer months. August is the wettest month, with an average of about 13 mm of precipitation and approximately 28 rainy days. Packing Tips

When planning a trip to Zhushan, it is important to consider the local climate, which is characterized by warm weather year-round and significant rainfall, especially from May to September. Regardless of the season, you will need a light waterproof jacket or a sturdy umbrella, as rain is common here. Comfortable walking shoes, preferably water-resistant, will also be indispensable for exploring the city and its surroundings. Don't forget sunscreen and a hat, especially if your trip falls during the summer months.

During the summer period (May to September), when average temperatures reach 25–26°C and the number of rainy days is at its peak, opt for light, breathable clothing made of natural fabrics. Shorts, T-shirts, sundresses, and sandals will be the most comfortable. In the cooler months (December to February), when the average temperature hovers around 16–17°C and the minimum can drop to 12–14°C, it is worth bringing warmer clothes. The principle of layering is very useful here: T-shirts or long-sleeves, a fleece or a light sweater, along with a windbreaker or a light jacket will keep you comfortable throughout the day as you adapt to potential weather changes. Long trousers or jeans are also appropriate.

Given the high humidity and frequent rainfall, especially in summer, quick-drying clothing can be quite practical. A small backpack for day trips to carry an umbrella, water bottle, and other essentials will also be useful. At any time of year, it's worth having insect repellent on hand, especially if you plan on nature walks. An adapter for electrical appliances, if different from those used in Taiwan, will also come in handy.
