The Astrakhan Museum-Reserve invites you to immerse yourself in the rich past and natural diversity of the Caspian region. It is the oldest regional museum association in Russia, founded in the first half of the 19th century. Today, it is a massive network of 14 branches covering not only the city of Astrakhan but also the most interesting corners of the region.

The main building of the museum is a magnificent architectural monument housing over 300,000 priceless exhibits. Here, you can see everything from ancient mammoth bones and 5,000-year-old artifacts to luxurious nomadic jewelry. The museum is rightfully considered the treasure house of the Lower Volga, offering visitors a unique perspective on the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures.
The inclusion of the famous Astrakhan Kremlin adds special significance to the reserve. Thanks to this union, the historical and architectural complex has become more than just a place to store antiquities—it's a living space where history comes alive in stone and in fascinating themed exhibitions like "The Gold of the Sarmatians."
