The climate in Callao, situated on the picturesque Pacific coast, is classified as a mild desert type. Thanks to the influence of ocean currents, this region of Peru does not experience extreme heat or harsh cold, and the weather remains surprisingly stable and mild throughout the year.

The city is characterized by distinct seasonality: a warm and sunny summer lasts from December to March, while a cooler and cloudier winter occurs from June to August. Despite the prevailing cloud cover, the climate remains very comfortable for travelers, and the absence of sudden weather disasters makes the city a predictable destination for a vacation.

Temperatures in Callao are remarkably consistent: throughout the year, the mercury usually fluctuates between +16°C and +27°C. The hottest period is summer (December–February), when daytime temperatures reach their peak, while nights remain mild and warm, staying above +20°C.

The coolest months are August and September, with average daytime highs around +18...+19°C. Notably, due to the ocean's influence, daily temperature fluctuations are minimal. For instance, in March, the difference between daytime warmth (+23°C) and nighttime coolness (+21°C) is barely noticeable, meaning travelers don't need to worry about packing heavy clothing.

Precipitation in Callao is an extremely rare and specific occurrence. Due to the arid climate of Peru's coastal zone, classic heavy downpours are practically non-existent, and it never snows. The total annual rainfall is negligible, rarely exceeding 50 mm, making the region one of the driest inhabited areas in the world.

Instead of heavy rain, the city is characterized by the so-called "garúa"—a fine mist caused by high air humidity, which can reach 89%. This phenomenon is most frequently observed in March and the winter months, when the city is covered by a thick blanket of clouds. The probability of significant precipitation during the day remains extremely low, at only 4-5%.

The sunniest and driest period is from June to October, when the sky is more often clear. Overall, the weather conditions in the city allow tourists to explore without worrying about prolonged rains ruining their sightseeing plans.

When heading to Callao, opt for clothing made from natural materials such as cotton and linen. Due to the consistently high humidity (around 85%), these fabrics will provide maximum comfort during long walks.
