Mainau Island Butterfly House (Schmetterlingshaus Mainau) is a true tropical fairytale located on the famous "Island of Flowers," Mainau, off the shores of Konstanz. This unique greenhouse is the largest pavilion of its kind in all of Germany and offers visitors the chance to immerse themselves in a world of exotic nature at any time of year.

Traveller photos:
Inside the pavilion, a humid tropical climate is maintained at a temperature of about 26°C, creating ideal conditions for its fluttering inhabitants. Here, amidst lush greenery and bright flowers, between 700 and 1,000 butterflies representing about 80 different species from all over the world fly freely. Visitors can observe these graceful creatures from a close distance, see how they feed on nectar, and even witness a butterfly emerging from its pupa.
The architecture of the building itself adds to the experience: the pavilion is shaped like a giant butterfly, and its entrance is styled as a caterpillar tunnel, symbolizing the life cycle of these amazing insects. A walk through the Butterfly House is not just a visit to an attraction, but a magical journey into a fragile and colorful world that leaves guests of all ages with unforgettable emotions.
