The main draw for tourists is the observation deck at a height of 450 meters, which offers a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the city. The ascent to the top is an adventure in itself: six high-speed elevators whisk you up in seconds. The city looks especially spectacular in the evening when the multi-colored lighting of the tower and the surrounding skyscrapers is turned on.

Inside the tower, which covers an area of over 114,000 m², there are 37 floors featuring a wide variety of interest zones. You can enjoy a fine dinner in one of the revolving restaurants, visit exhibition halls, or simply relax in the lounge areas while admiring the curves of the steel structure. For thrill-seekers, the upper levels feature unique attractions that allow you to experience the height as closely as possible.

Reaching this architectural giant is easy, as it is located in the heart of the modern Haizhu district on the banks of the Pearl River. The most convenient way is to use the metro. You will need Line 3 or the APM line (Automated People Mover); you should get off at the Canton Tower (广州塔站) station. The walk from the metro exit to the tower itself takes no more than 5–10 minutes at a leisurely pace.

If you prefer comfort, you can take a taxi. A trip from the central districts will take 15 to 30 minutes, though you should consider traffic density during peak hours. For those who prefer surface transport, many bus routes run toward the tower, and there are parking zones nearby for private cars.

The history of this structure began in 2004 when an international architectural competition was announced. The winning design was by Dutch architects Mark Hemel and Barbara Kuit, who proposed a concept called "Supermodel." The project earned this name due to the tower's unusual shape, reminiscent of a graceful female figure with a "thin waist" in the middle.

Construction took place intensively from 2005 to 2010. One of the main engineering features was the hyperboloid lattice shell created from large-diameter steel pipes. Interestingly, the concept of such a construction dates back to an 1899 patent held by the famous engineer V. G. Shukhov, whose ideas inspired the tower's creators a century later.

The tower's official opening took place in 2010 to coincide with the start of the Asian Games. Since then, it has become the primary symbol of the city's ambitions and rapid technological progress, turning into one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world.

To fully appreciate the scale of the structure and enjoy the views, it is recommended to allocate 2 to 4 hours for your visit. This will be enough time for a leisurely ride on the high-speed elevators, a stroll across several observation decks, and taking stunning photos.

If you plan to visit one of the panoramic restaurants or try the thrill rides at the top of the tower, it is better to allow for an extra hour. The best approach is to arrive an hour before sunset to see the city both in daylight and in the glow of the evening illumination.
