Where to go in October
A vacation in October is an excellent solution for those who managed to buy tickets at a good price in summer and want to catch the last train to a great holiday. We have compiled a selection of countries and Russian cities where you can fly and comfortably relax in mid-autumn.

Where to go for a seaside vacation
Turkey
Still one of the most popular destinations for travel from Russia. The main thing is to familiarize yourself with the entry rules for Turkey before starting your trip.
In October, the temperature will definitely please you — it does not drop below +25 degrees Celsius on the coast. We recommend buying flights to Antalya and going to relax by the Mediterranean Sea, as it cools down much slower than others.
Towards the end of the month, the thermometer drops to +20 degrees Celsius. This means it's better to change summer clothes for jeans and a windbreaker, because the rainy season begins in Turkey. However, this is no reason to cancel your trip, as you will have a wonderful opportunity to visit interesting excursions to historical sites without the exhausting heat. Just don't forget to bring an umbrella, of course.
For entry, a foreign passport valid for at least 120 days is required. A visa is not needed if you stay in Turkey for no more than 60 days.
Tunisia
In the first half of October, Tunisia is a paradise for a holiday on the Mediterranean coast. Many tourists choose Djerba island, where excellent weather lasts the longest. On average, the thermometer stays at +25 degrees Celsius.
Towards the end of the month, the temperature drops to +20 degrees Celsius. This is a great time for those who want to explore the ruins of the ancient city of Carthage or visit the Bardo National Museum.
In short, in Tunisia in October, you will definitely find something to do. You will only need a foreign passport and a great mood. A visa is required if you plan to explore ancient cities and the Sahara desert for more than 90 days.

Cyprus
Ancient monasteries, the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea, and wonderful nature... All this luxury, combined with pleasant weather, is available in Cyprus. The temperature in October here averages +26 degrees Celsius.
However, it's cool in the evenings, so we don't recommend strolling along the beaches of Ayia Napa or watching the dancing fountains show in Protaras without a windbreaker. The latter, by the way, stop working in November, so be sure to visit the fountains while they are open.
Flights to the island are only available with a layover in Armenia. In addition to a foreign passport, you will need a national Cypriot visa or a Schengen visa; there's no other way.

Greece
Due to the beach season nearing its end in October, there's plenty of space on the beaches in Greece. However, the first half of the month is perfect for swimming: air and water temperatures average around +24 degrees Celsius. Consider the islands of Kos, Crete, or Rhodes for a beach holiday.
Otherwise, for those who came to Greece to enjoy its rich culture and wander through the places of great philosophers, mid-autumn is an excellent choice. Just don't forget to bring an umbrella, as the rainy season begins.
For entry, you will need a foreign passport valid for at least 120 days after returning from Greece, a Schengen visa, and medical insurance with coverage of 30,000 euros.
Visa-free destinations
Can you go somewhere without a visa? Of course, here are a few options.
Montenegro
Meet the first visa-free destination in Europe! Montenegro is a country of high mountains and pristine lakes. Coming here in October, you can expect to catch the last train and swim in the waters of the Adriatic Sea. On the coast in the first half of the month, the temperature averages around +22 degrees Celsius. However, nothing will prevent you from relaxing on the beach even at the end of the month — all beach holiday services operate until early November.
If you plan to go hiking in the mountains, be sure to take SPF cream, sunglasses, a hat, and a warm sweater.
To enter Montenegro, you will only need a foreign passport. A visa is not required if you plan to stay in the country for no more than 30 days.
Armenia
Buy a plane ticket to Yerevan and head to one of the most hospitable countries on the planet. In early October, the temperature averages around +22 degrees Celsius, dropping to +13 by the end of the month. Must-visits in Armenia include Lake Sevan, Geghard Monastery, and, of course, the "Cascade" architectural complex in the capital. If you decide to conquer all 572 steps up, you'll be rewarded with a memorable panorama of Yerevan.
In short, for fans of mountain holidays and exploring ancient monasteries, this is the best solution. For entry, both Russian and foreign passports can be used.
Serbia
When coming to Serbia, be prepared for an average temperature of around +17 degrees Celsius. Therefore, plan your traveler's wardrobe in advance so you don't freeze while strolling through Belgrade. In addition to the architectural and historical sights of the capital, we recommend admiring the local autumn nature. Be sure to visit Tara National Park, the Uvac River Canyon, and Zlatibor, an area with endless meadows and old churches.
You can only fly to Belgrade with layovers. If you plan to stay in Serbia for less than 30 days, you do not need a visa. However, a foreign passport will definitely be required.
Georgia
Arriving in Tbilisi in October, be prepared to leave with a few extra pounds: this month, Georgians harvest the most delicious fruits and grapes.

Towards the end of the month, the temperature drops to +15 degrees Celsius, so be sure to pack a sweater for your trip. If you want to spend your vacation culturally and in warmth, visit the Georgian National Museum in the country's capital or the Adjara Art Museum in Batumi.
For entry, only a foreign passport is needed. A visa is not required if you do not stay in the country for more than 365 days.

Where to go in Russia
Sochi
In early October, you can still enjoy swimming in the Black Sea — the temperature here will be around +21 degrees Celsius. By the end of the month, it will drop to +13 degrees Celsius, so take care of your wardrobe in advance after buying a ticket to Adler. Otherwise, there's plenty to do here: for example, walk across the suspension bridge in Skypark, climb Mount Bolshoy Akhun, or visit the picturesque "33 Waterfalls" park, located 50 km from the city. In general, if you want to escape the hustle and bustle and stroll along the shore to the sound of the surf — feel free to come to Sochi.
Essentuki
The birthplace of beneficial mineral water is an ideal place for a quiet family holiday. Fresh air, the Resort Park with beautiful fountains, and, of course, an abundance of sanatoriums. Pilgrimage tours often depart from here to visit holy sites. There aren't many attractions in the city itself: people come to Essentuki for its nature. But from here, you can start your small journey by electric train to Pyatigorsk or visit other mineral resorts of Russia. The temperature in October here will be around +15 degrees Celsius, so a hoodie is your best friend on the trip.
The easiest way to get to Essentuki is by buying tickets to Mineralnye Vody. The distance between these cities is about 38 km.
Nizhny Novgorod
For those who have conquered the Moscow Kremlin, we recommend heading to the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. Besides that, there's plenty to do in Nizhny: stroll along the Verkhnevolzhskaya Embankment, visit the Pechersky Ascension Monastery, or walk through places with the most interesting street art objects. It is said that fans of gastronomic tours will really enjoy Nizhny Novgorod for its abundance of delicious wines and dishes. Well, it's hard to believe until you try it yourself. All you'll need for your trip is cozy accommodation, a jacket, jeans, and warm socks for yourself and your child, as the average temperature in October in Nizhny will be around +9 degrees Celsius.
Kazan
The average temperature in October in Kazan is about +9 degrees Celsius at the beginning of the month and about +2 at the end. It will be very windy here, so a jacket won't hurt on your trip. But there will be plenty of entertainment in the capital of Tatarstan — from leisurely strolls through the city center with breaks for lunch with national cuisine to visiting contemporary art galleries.

Kazan has many places for young people: coffee shops, libraries, museums. So if you plan to work on vacation, and not travel with a child, you'll always find an excellent spot for sitting with a laptop! Don't forget to grab treats for your loved ones: chak-chak, echpochmaki, and a magnet (that's sacred).
We wish you great weather in October and cool trips to any corner of the world!
