How to Change Ticket Details

Remember the old saying, "haste makes waste"? It's still relevant when it comes to rushing ticket purchases. You certainly won't be laughing when your passport says "Ivanova" but your ticket shows "Mvanova" for your Saint Petersburg – Rome ticket, which you so successfully bought at a low price. What to do, where to run, who to write to, and how to fix everything – let's figure it out.

Types of Errors

Full Name: the most common case – from the example above. Trivial typos, missing or swapped letters, first name instead of last name, and vice versa. For women, it's also common to enter their maiden name instead of their new one.

Dates: day, month, year of birth, as well as travel dates. It's important not to "shave off" a few years, otherwise, in the eyes of the carrier, your ticket might fall into the child category. Then correcting the data will be more difficult. An error in the departure date is fixable: the ticket can be reissued.

It's important not to confuse the day if the time is indicated after midnight. I.e., a trip at two in the morning on Friday is the night from Thursday to Friday, not from Friday to Saturday.

Passport Details: the most serious error. The travel document and passport must match completely, both for domestic and international flights. Otherwise, you might simply be denied boarding.

What Is Not Considered an Error

If you incorrectly entered your phone number and email address – it's not a big deal. This data does not affect the ticket issuance process, only the method of notification about changes from the airline. But you can still correct it for your own convenience.  

Change Conditions

Each carrier has its own conditions. Some meet customers halfway and process changes for free, while others will require a service fee. Much depends on the fare at which the ticket was issued. Often, the cheaper it is, the fewer "perks" you get. Sometimes changes are not possible, and then you will be offered a refund and to issue a new ticket.

Airline Tickets

Aeroflot

From April 22, 2025, you can change an Aeroflot ticket in the "Manage Booking": there you can make changes to the passenger's full name and documents. This applies to tickets purchased through the contact center, on the Aeroflot website, and at their own sales offices. Correction of last name, first name, or patronymic is almost always possible only upon payment of a service fee. The exception is if you changed your passport after issuing the ticket and the new spelling is different. Correcting the passenger's date of birth, series, number, or validity period of the identity document, adding or removing a patronymic can be done for free.

S7

S7 is much more accommodating: they allow corrections of up to three letters in the first name or patronymic and up to 3 letters in the last name, gender, document number, phone number, and email without extra charge. You can change ticket details on the website, in the "My Bookings" section. If the data entry process got out of hand and you need to correct more than three letters, you should write to them in chat. For example, when changing a last name after marriage. Be prepared to provide documents confirming the name change, such as a marriage certificate.

Pobeda

Errors in personal data will cost 800 ₽. For this amount, through the low-cost carrier's call center (but no later than 4 hours before departure), on a third-party service, or at the airport check-in counter before the end of flight registration, they will change the full name, date of birth, series/number/expiration date of the document on the ticket. Only a patronymic can be added for free if you didn't specify it initially. The same applies to a complete replacement of data in the phone number or e-mail.

Ural Airlines

The service for correcting full name and passport data with the airline is paid. The price depends on the time until departure and the type of flight. The cheapest option is for domestic flights and more than 24 hours in advance. In that case, changes of up to three characters in the full name or numbers will cost 1 000 ₽. You can make corrections in the "Manage Booking" section. To do this, you need to submit an application via the feedback form with the correct data and ticket number. Then they will send you a payment link, and after that – new itinerary receipts.

Red Wings

If you notice an error in your name, date of birth, or passport details and there are more than five days left until departure, submit an application on the website. If less than 24 hours remain before the flight, changes are made only at the departure airport. The service is paid – 1 000 ₽ for domestic flights and 15 € for international flights.

Utair

With Utair, errors will also result in a slight sting to your financial chakra. Here you can make changes to your data in the "Manage Ticket" section. The airline's fee for your inattention will be 1 000 ₽ + they will add a fee for using booking systems – from 30 to 485 ₽. The final price depends on where you originally booked the ticket – on the Utair website or at an airline ticket office.

Azimuth

For a fee they will correct errors in the full name, date of birth, series, number, and type of document. They will change the order of last name, first name, and patronymic, phone number, and email address for free. To make changes, you need to submit an application on the website, pay for the service, after which you will be sent the corrected airline ticket.

Nordwind

A fee will be charged for all corrections – to full name, passport details, date of birth. Even those that occurred due to a name change. Passengers on regular flights should contact the Passenger Support Center, while those flying on a charter should contact their travel agent, tour operator, or the place where the ticket was purchased.

How to change an RZD ticket? Unfortunately, you can't. It is impossible to make changes to an e-ticket. In this case, if there were errors in the full name, date of birth, departure date, and so on, the ticket will have to be canceled and reissued. Therefore, even before payment, check everything down to the last character.

Grand Service Express

Here, passengers are not so strictly treated: now you can edit personal data directly on the carrier's website. It is allowed to correct a total of two characters in the last name, first name, patronymic, and/or document number, change a letter in the "Gender" field, and add a patronymic.

Megapolis

At the ticket office, they will correct an error in one digit or one letter for free. Other changes will be paid. However, if you incorrectly entered your date of birth and fell under the "Birthday" fare, you will be asked to pay the full ticket price.
